everything ive ever read in psychology
(which is a lot)
(im not bragging — i’m just well-read,
and that’s a fact. and i’m proud of it.
and i can say that without bragging bc i’m not
bragging. listen to me when i say that.)
says you shouldn’t use “I” statements
bc the situation shouldn’t be made about you.
psychology has always said to remove
yourself for the situation in order to give
time to the person you’re focusing on.
i call bullshit.
i think “i” statements can help people see
that they are not alone.
i think “i” statements can change the world.
everyone is just begging to be heard.
i see them.
i see you.
when i talk to myself,
i am talking to everyone.
i am talking to you.
i love you unconditionally
and without abandon.
hear me when i say this.
please hear me —
i know you’re listening,
otherwise,
you wouldn’t have this link.
